This is Harford or "Old Dog" as I call him. Harford was found by some very nice ladies who work at the Harford Fairgrounds in Harford, PA. He had been wandering around the grounds and sleeping in the barns for
several days and the ladies knew my friend Carroll had Greyhounds, so they called her. She called me and we went over to gather the old boy up. He isn't all Greyhound, probably 3/4 and the rest might be Black Lab. He's sweet and gentle and really, REALLY OLD!! I named him after the fairgrounds where he was found, but when I talk to him, it just comes out "Old Dog". He's neutered, had no collar or ID and no tattoos obviously if he isn't all Greyhound. He knew just how to jump up in the car when we left and he knew exactly what my couch was for, (see above) so we knew he had been someone's pet at one time. Had he been dumped because he got "too old"? or was he lost. We tried calling all the local shelters to see if someone had repoted him missing, but to no avail. We found a home for this poor old boy in Buffalo, NY. with the Weiss family and he's doing greyt! Yay!
UPDATE!
OhDee went on to the rainbow bridge with some of the rest of the black pack in 2006. His poor old huge heart finally just gave out on him. Diane and Roger Weiss miss him terribly.
This is Recon. However I have been calling him "Reckon"...I RECKON it's time to eat, eh? I RECKON it's time to go out. I RECKON you like the name Reckon. Reckon is the latest foster in the Dragonflyte lineup and he is a sweetie!
I tease him sometimes and call him "WRECKIN'" WRECKIN CREW! WRECKIN BALL! WRECKIN DA HOUSE! But he doesn't, really. One day Sara left the house after I did and forgot to lock the crate door. When I got home hours later, he hadn't done a thing!
He's a little shy and stays in the open crate a lot, but he WANTS to love and be loved! Every chance he gets, he lies on the rug next to the computer when I am on it. (And that's almost all the time!)
He also has those wonderful "foldable' ears so another name I have for him is "Hathead!"
UPDATE:
Reckon was adopted by a volunteer from our adoption group! He is now living in NE PA (and close by so I'll see him again soon!) Thanks Edye, Rick and Freida for giving him a wonderful home!
This foster came from Plainfield, CT and when they needed to find room for some of the retiree's, he was sent to a farm in North Carolina. Then he came here in PA with my girls!
He was a sweet, wonderful, BIG boy who was cat and kid safe!
There had been some confusion about his name, but I called him "Nile" once and he looked up at me and seemed to like it, so that's who he became. This picture was taken the day after he arrived here from North Carolina. He seemed to be in fine shape. A bit dirty, but a nice warm bath took care of that! BTW, he's a "melter!" You know the kind....the ones that melt in the bathtub when the warm water relaxes them so much their legs go to rubber! Nile was adopted about three weeks later.
This is Diamond. She had been adopted by a young man who, after one week of Greyhound ownership, decided that he really didn't want a dog afterall and returned her. He had been calling her Bailey, but Ann and I decided that Diamond was better anyway. And she already knew that. She now temporarily resides here at Dragonflyte and is a bit shy, but loves to give kisses and wants to be where ever the people of the house are. She's a love and needs to find just the right home for her little self!
Hold your mouse over her pic below to see her give the signal that she's ready to go!
