Sadly, our sweet Geno left us on April 27, 1999.  Harry called me at work to deliver the horrible news.  Geno had simply passed away quietly and suddenly in his arms froma myocardial infarction.  In short, his heart had collapsed on itself.  He was nine years old and a more personable fellow, I have never met.
That night, Harry came home from work in the wee hours of the morning and as he stepped out of his car, he looked up at the stars twinkling in the night sky and realized that he had never had a chance to say good-bye to Geno, he went so quickly.
So he waved his hand at the stars and bid his final farewell, "Good-bye sweet boy.  We will always love you."
At that exact moment, a shooting star appeared and trailed across the sky, moving upward toward Heaven.  We figure it was Geno on his way to the Rainbow Bridge and he was waving back at Daddy.
I'll never forget the silly grin Geno got on his face when he wanted  lovin's and I'll never forget the way he used to first, speak, "WOOF!!!" and then, on command, whisper, "wuf", barely even audible.
We hold him close in our hearts and know that he's waiting at the bridge with all the other bridge kids we've lost over the years.  Run free, sweet Geno, my good, good boy and may God speed.
